【20210730:金】+++久しぶりに泣けたTom Waitsの曲+++

Tom WaitsのThe Early Years Vol.2という中古CDを今更ながら購入した。彼がメジャーデビュー前のデモテープから起こしたCDのようだ。若いTom Waits。でも彼のしわがれた声がぼくの何かに触れ、本当に久しぶりに音楽を聴いて涙がこみ上げた。

どこか切なくて、

どこかやさしくて。。。

曲のタイトルは『OL'55』。

OLD 55の略。

これは彼の愛車55年型ビューイック・ロードマスターのことらしい。

Eaglesだけでなく、日本人も含めいろんな人がTom Waitsのこの歌をカバーしてるようだ。

Tom Waits自身、別のCDで違うアレンジで歌ってる。

ぼくがこの曲に特に惹かれたのは、ギター1本の弾き語りだからだ。このシンプルさと彼の声とがぼくのココロの琴線に触れるのだろう。

＊隣地の解体工事はほぼ終わったようだ。祖父母の家や小屋等は跡形もなく消え去った。あらためて、こんなに広かったんだなと思った。ぼくが幼少の頃、親に怒られると拗ねて登った煙突の窯跡が、昨日地面に口を開けていた。

人の一生のなんと短く儚いことよ。

そんなぼくの気持ちに、Tom Waitsの歌が響いたんだろうな。
